Mujeres Aliadas seeks to establish midwifery as an autonomous profession and promotes sexual and reproductive health and rights by empowering women and adolescents to make free, conscious, and informed decisions about their healthcare and sexuality. Mujeres Aliadas is working toward the construction of a more equal society where women’s rights are fully recognized.
Through community education, dignified and qualified healthcare, and formal training based on the model of professional midwifery, Mujeres Aliadas is strengthening women’s and adolescents’ autonomous decision-making processes and self-care in relation to their bodies, their sexuality, and their reproduction. Mujeres Aliadas offers education and outreach programs and provides safe, accessible, and culturally sensitive sexual and reproductive healthcare in rural and marginalized urban neighborhoods in Michoacán, México.
