The Women’s Justice Initiative (WJI) is a Guatemala-based organization dedicated to combating gender inequality and ending violence against indigenous girls and women in rural communities. WJI employs a holistic approach to prevent child marriage and gender-based violence, improve access to justice in rural Guatemala, and provide Maya women and girls with the tools they need to become leaders in their communities. WJI offers free legal services directly to women in need and promotes legal literacy and empowerment education to expand women’s access to justice.
The Women’s Justice Initiative taps into the transformative potential of Maya women, training them to become advocates and leaders in their communities.
