Thank you for your interest in WomenStrong International. Use of WomenStrong-hosted websites constitutes acceptance of the terms of use and privacy policy outlined. The terms of use and privacy policy apply to the WomenStrong International website (https://www.womenstrong.org/), its member portal site (https://portal.womenstrong.org), and services offered on the womenstrong.org domain (the “Site”). WomenStrong International is the sole owner of the information collected on these websites. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement.
What Personal Data We Collect, and Why We Collect It
WomenStrong International collects information from our visitors at several different points on our websites. Our womenstrong.org website offers the opportunity for visitors to register for our email list. Users may be asked to provide contact information (name, email, phone numbers, etc.). We may use this contact information to send users updates from WomenStrong and information about various initiatives. We also allow users to make financial contributions via the womenstrong.org website. We collect necessary information to facilitate contributions (such as credit card information) and use that information to process the transaction. We retain records of the date and amount of each contribution, but credit card information is not stored on our systems after a contribution has been processed. WomenStrong also uses Google Analytics software to track IP addresses, browser types, pages viewed, resources downloaded, and other information to help us improve user experience on our websites.
WomenStrong’s websites include a private portal for Learning Lab members to interact and to upload and download resources. Members will be asked to create an account and to provide contact information in order to gain access to the portal. The portal tracks user behavior, such as materials downloaded, to help us improve user experiences. Users of the portal will also receive regular email updates, including recently added content.
Users may update their information or opt out of receiving communications at any time by emailing [email protected]. To unsubscribe, please put “unsubscribe” in the subject line. Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the Member Learning Lab Portal, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.
Visitors to the womenstrong.org website can download and extract any location data from images found on womenstrong.org.
Web Data and Cookies
In addition to your personal information, we may also collect standard Web server traffic pattern information generated by your use of WomenStrong websites. General traffic, site usage, and length-of-stay information may be collected and stored in log files for the purpose of improving the user experience and preventing spam. This may include information such as IP address, browser type and version, webpages you view, how you got to our websites, and any links you click in order to leave our websites. This type of information is shared externally only on an aggregated basis.
Visitors should be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected on our websites through the use of “cookies.” Cookies are small text files stored as text on a computer hard drive. Our websites can use cookies to recognize repeat visitors, facilitate the visitor’s ongoing access to and use of the websites, allow the websites to track usage behavior, and compile aggregate data that will allow content improvements. We use cookie technology only to obtain non-personal information from online visitors in order to improve visitors’ online experience and facilitate their visit within our websites.
If a visitor does not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows the visitor to deny or accept the cookie feature. We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of our websites. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the websites, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other websites they used prior to coming to the site. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve the websites. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit these websites, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personal information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit a website, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to our websites by disabling cookies on your browser.
If you leave a comment on our websites, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just posted or edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on these websites may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our WomenStrong websites, so that our users are always aware of the types of information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we would disclose it. This policy is effective as of July 1, 2020.
