About Our Work
WomenStrong believes that knowledge and peer learning should have no boundaries. Therefore, we have no geographical limits to where we fund. Explore our global network of partners.
WomenStrong works with women-led organizations focused on women and girls’ health, girls’ education, preventing violence against women and girls, and economic opportunity and security for women and girls. We believe these issues address some of the most essential needs facing women and girls today.
WomenStrong offers its partners tailored capacity strengthening support as per each partner’s expressed needs and goals. We also welcome our partners into a community of practice, our WomenStrong Learning Lab, and help to expand their networks, their visibility, and their sources of funding.
We believe that women and girls are best served by programs in their own communities. Yet community-based women-led organizations often lack the resources, technical support, networks, and visibility needed to achieve their full potential. Our Theory of Change asserts that if we help address these challenges, women-led organizations and the communities they serve will thrive.
We use our Theory of Change to examine our activities regularly, to learn whether or not they are contributing to our desired long-term outcomes and to adjust our activities, outcomes, and pathways based on what we learn. We assess how WomenStrong is perceived by our partners, how well we are supporting them in meeting their goals, and to what extent our activities may be contributing to improvements in their potential to support gender-sensitive and -transformative change in the lives of the women and girls they serve. We use various methods and tools to assess our work, including an anonymous feedback mechanism, external evaluations, activity feedback surveys, and through informal conversations with partner staff.

Donations and Financial Information
At WomenStrong, we support local women-led organizations across the globe in fulfilling and expanding their service to the women and girls in their communities. By supporting WomenStrong, you help us not only provide unrestricted grants to our partners, but also enable us to deliver crucial capacity strengthening support to our partners, and membership in our Learning Lab.
WomenStrong takes direction from our partner organizations. They tell us what they need to strengthen their evidence-based, gender-transformative programming, and we facilitate the assistance our partners request. Our grantee-led approach differentiates WomenStrong from other funders and intermediaries, and our evaluations show that this approach is having a significant positive impact on the work of our partners.

Partnerships and Collaborations
From time to time, WomenStrong invites women-led organizations working in the areas important to us to send us information about themselves. If those organizations meet our criteria, we reach out to hold exploratory conversations, including about whether the organization would be interested in participating in our Learning Lab. We do not require proposals; rather, we discover through dialogue whether prospective partners seem to be a good fit for our programs.
When WomenStrong issues a request for information from potential new grantees, it will be announced on all our social media channels. WomenStrong does not require applications, but a short form will be posted on our website to be completed by all interested organizations.
WomenStrong is always looking for ways to collaborate with like-minded organizations, including co-hosting events and convenings, sharing content, speaking opportunities, etc. Please contact us [email protected] to explore ideas.
Please see our grantmaking page on our website for our funding criteria. WomenStrong funding is unrestricted.
WomenStrong grants are unrestricted, and we have minimal application and reporting requirements. Besides the unrestricted grants, we also offer partner support funds to each of our grantees, to help advance their progress toward their capacity strengthening goals.
